Building an indie business in the center of venture capital. I am Alex Edmonds. People on the internet call me Supreme Ham. And this is the building an indie business podcast recorded in the new Indie business studio. Ok. So I think this is the first or second episode I've recorded since I moved. Um So yeah, I'm trying it out seeing what it sounds like, things like that. Um I was having issues at work so I didn't get a chance to record. I haven't done any writing basically since December. And I think that was the last time I recorded an episode or may have recorded one in February or January. Um The year four episode was the one I recorded maybe. Um, but you know, I fix all my issues at work. I'm still working through them, but for the majority of the issues are behind me. So now it's Friday and I have a chance to record. So I want to record and what I want to talk about is Bing. So, um I am working on a new website and the person who, whose website this is, I'm freelancing, uh, they talked about getting away from Google in terms of S E O. So I kind of, you know, there's been, and I, I was just, I put it on bing. I uh I left it there next week. I go in just for fun and I check the results and I was so impressed. Um So for Google, they had 3.6, 1000 3600 clicks and a million impression or no 1.9 million impressions. So 3600 clicks off uh two million impressions. That is ac T R of 0.2% that's important. And then I check Bing and Bing has 1800 clicks. OK? That's half. But wait, there's more um It's 1800 clicks off 66 1000 impressions. So that C T R is 2% way more significant. So I'm like, OK, how do I get more impressions on um on Bing? And so I'm gonna walk you through that first. I'm gonna walk you through uh Bing Webmaster tools, which is uh Bing's version of Google search console. And the reason why I wanna walk you through this is because it's actually really interesting. So um you put your website on being Webmaster tools, it's the same thing as you do it on Google, you give them a site map and boom, it's on there. And then um you see the search performance similar to um to Google, right? There's URL inspection. Um Let me try this. OK. So I'm on the podcast website. Just to be clear, I need to grab the URL. I'm a little rusty with podcasting. So forgive me, please. It's been a while. Ok. Um So we're gonna inspect the sell digital product Shopify. Um ok, so URL index successfully can appear on Bing. There's one S E O issue um title tag missing How To Fix um uh How to fix, add a title tag your page using the title tag, which should be placed inside the header where I don't have that, but I guess I should go fix that up, mark up type found. Um, Jason. So that means I just have the, um, schema then site explore. Ok. So, um, they gave me the crawl information. So these are how many, um, how many, what's the word I'm looking for? How many pages on the site are crawled? It says 48 are indexed, um, zero errors, four warnings, zero excluded. Ok. Then it shows me all the ones that are indexed. Um, it shows me when it was discovered March 2020 when I was getting the S E O. Um, last car was February 2020 23. Um, ok. And then it just has like information. 52 URL S disseminate, clicks, 40 impressions, 1.1 back links and that's the last six months. Um, those numbers are off. So let me see. Um, URL S with other issues. Ok. So you can filter it you can filter it by all URL S index, URL, um URL S with crawling issues, dead links. Um And then it shows you those. So four of them are dead links. Um URL with crawling issues, URL S with the robot T X D disallowed URL S with no index. Um URL S redirect apparently 40 of them. A visual dead links. OK. Um URL S with canonical source, URL with guideline issues. Um URL is not selected, not yet crawled URL S with other issues. No data. So it's weird. Um OK. Then site map, it shows you all the site maps. Um OK. Then URL mission. If there's anything missing, you can submit up to €100 in one day. Then the
